With Literacy and Justice for All: Delivering on the Promise for ALL

ChildrenThere is no job more important than the development of a strong foundation of language and literacy skills, as we set the stage for children’s future academic learning, as well as their ability to think critically, creatively and productively as literate citizens of the 21st century. This is an exciting time, as more is known about teaching reading than ever before. Although educators are the chief architects of school-based instruction, parents play a most important role as their child’s first teacher. In this session we will dig into the research on reading—the science of reading—to support parents in understanding their child’s development and the support they can provide.

In this webinar, participants will explore these big ideas:

  • What is the science of reading?
  • How do students acquire the ability to read?
  • What does the neuroscience reveal about the process of learning to read?
  • What does high-quality, effective reading instruction look like?
  • What can parents do to help their child on the learning-to-read journey?
